Should You Choose Pokemon Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl?

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, remakes of the 2006 Nintendo DS titles, are now just on the horizon.

The pair of games, which go down as some of the best in the series’ storied history, have been reimagined with a style more akin to that in Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu and Eevee.

As with all Pokemon titles though, players are torn between which versions they should choose to purchase.

So, to help you out, here’s whether you should buy Pokemon Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl when they release at the end of this week.

Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Version Exclusives

Like every Pokemon game that has come before it and undoubtedly every game that will come after it, there is a range of Pokemon exclusive to each version of the game.

Legendary Pokemon

Alongside the usual differences in wild Pokemon available, your Legendary preference will impact your decision on whether you choose Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl.

Of course, the mascot Legendary for Diamond is Dialga and for Pearl, it’s Palkia, however, players will be able to visit Ramanas Park after beating the game and will have the opportunity to encounter a range of different Legendary Pokemon.

In Diamond, players will be able to encounter:

  • Raikou
  • Entei
  • Suicune
  • Ho-Oh

And in Pearl:

  • Articuno
  • Zapdos
  • Moltres
  • Lugia

This should also impact which version you choose.

Are There Any Other Gameplay Differences Between The Two?

Thankfully, aside from the differences in Pokemon, players won’t have to choose either Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl based on any gameplay differences.

The two titles will have the same Gyms, Elite Four and every other feature.

Should You Choose Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl?

This is all up to personal preference, based on the Pokemon that you prefer. It’s advisable to look at the two lists and base your decision on those.

For me, Brilliant Diamond is the obvious choice as I prefer Dialga and the other available Legendaries, plus the likes of Scyther, Tyranitar and Rampardos but that could all be different for you.
