JoJo Part 6 Stone Ocean had a new stream event, revealing Enrico Pucci will be voiced by veteran seiyuu Tomokazu Seki.

On November 28, JoJo Stone Ocean had its final stream pre-release on the Warner Bros. Japan Anime YouTube channel, featuring the seiyuu Fairouz Ai (Jolyne Cujoh), Mariya Ise (F.F.), and Mutsumi Tamura, (Ermes Costello). After going through all the past JoJo anime series, the final segment focused on Stone Ocean, and revealed antagonist Enrico Pucci will be voiced by Tomokazu Seki.

Tomokazu Seki also joined the other seiyuu on stream, mentioning he did read JoJo in the past but he studied the manga again thoroughly to get in the role. He also mentioned how Fairouz Ai helped him a lot, seeing she’s such a huge JoJo otaku, she would always be at the studio even when she didn’t have anything to record. She wanted to hear all the seiyuu recoding live as much as possible. Seki also mentioned being pretty nervous about joining the cast as “an old man” when compared to the younger seiyuu.

Who is Tomokazu Seki, the seiyuu of Enrico Pucci in JoJo Stone Ocean

Tomokazu Seki debuted in 1991, with his first main role being Tomáš Masaryk in Victory Gundam. However, his breakthrough role and the character Seki is the most known for is Domon Kasshu, the protagonist of G Gundam. That’s the one role that set Tomokazu Seki on his career path, voicing hot-blooded and passionate characters.

Since then, Tomokazu Seki voiced many other protagonists, including Stan Aileron in Tales of Destiny, Van Fanel in Escaflowne, Vyse in Eternal Arcadia, and Sousuke Sagara in Full Metal Panic.

You can also tell the amazing range Seki can do when seeing he voiced around the same years, in the early 2000s, Keisuke Takahashi in Initial D, Yzak Joule in Gundam Seed AND ultra-cute mascot Meppuru in Futari wa Precure.

Most American anime fans know Tomokazu Seki for voicing Rob Lucci in One Piece, Gilgamesh in Fate/stay night and the Nasuverse, and Kanji in Persona 4. More recently, Seki voiced Shinya Kogami in Psycho-Pass and Ogata Nenji in 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim.

Tomokazu Seki as a singer, otaku and BL history

Tomokazu Seki was also part of the Weiß Kreuz cross media project, forming a band with other veteran seiyuu Takehito Koyasu, Shinichiro Miki and Hiro Yūki. Tomokazu Seki also voiced Shuichi Shindou, the protagonist of Gravitation, and is one of the iconic seiyuu of the BL scene right below BL emperor Morikawa Toshiyuki.

Seki Tomokazu also had his own circle at Comiket selling doujinshi about his career and life as a seiyuu, after being inspired by Masumi Asano and her Seiyu’s Life series.

Last but not least, it’s important to not mix up Tomokazu Seki with another veteran voice actor: Toshihiko Seki (Duo in Gundam Wing, Rau Le Creuset in Seed, Embryo in Cross Ange, etc). I often mix them up myself.
