If you are using a hard disk, it could take a long time depending on how compressed the game is. For SSDs, the process is significantly faster, as compared to HDDs at least.

Well the good news is that the developers have acknowledged this issue and they are already working on it. In a tweet on their official Twitter handle, Lost Ark mentions that it has Steam regarding the issue, and they are actively working on a fix.

The issue is affecting not only normal players but content creators as well. Considering that the developers have big plans for the launch, such as giving out Twitch drops and a variety of other stuff, this will surely hamper their plans. It remains to be seen when this issue will be resolved.
